Summary: The setting of the Cavalier Resort is beautiful, so the location did not disappoint. I really wanted to like the resort itself, but there were a few things that could be improved upon. First, they were fully booked but clearly not staffed to handle it, so several guests, ourselves included, were not able to check in until after the 4 pm check-in. They seemed very overwhelmed. One of the things they advertised was the s'mores kits for the property's fire pits. When I asked for one for my son, I was told they had sticks, but if I wanted to make s'mores, I would have to go to the store to buy the rest. The resort itself could use some updates; the rooms were somewhat dated, although comfortable. We stayed in a room that had a connecting room. The walls were very thin, and the guests next to us were loud, and it sounded like they were in our room. Lastly, as a family-friendly resort that offers room service, it would be nice if they were a bit more flexible. On our last night, my son was tired, so we wanted to order food to the room. They had pasta, but my son is picky, so I asked them to make penne with butter. They seemed a bit confused, so I clarified over the phone that they could do just penne with butter, and they assured me they could. When they brought it, it was basically their fettuccine Alfredo dish with chicken, but without the Alfredo sauce, and it was $26. Not what I was expecting. If they couldn't do it, I wish they had told me.
